The See Baby Midwives are thrilled to join Dr. Bootstaylor in his efforts to #BringBirthBack! We look forward to hosting a meet and greet for See Baby Midwifery in the near future…Stay tuned!

As we hope you’ve heard, #SeeBaby #Midwifery is set to launch on July 14, 2014. We appreciate your support as we embark on this new journey, and in an effort to keep you informed we welcome your questions. We will continually strive to provide excellence, which includes doing our best to explain what’s going on behind the scenes, and answer your questions.

Q. What is the See Baby Hybrid Care all about?

Our thinking…

We are working to create a service that will allow for a hybrid service; #HomeBirth Prenatal Care, See Baby #Birth!  Essentially some mothers enjoy and feel more comfortable with the high level of care provided by CPMs, CNMs and Home Birth Midwives, however their births may be served best in a hospital setting, yet maintaining the dignity, respect and wonderment that occurs with Home Birth.

We envision the happy median as this #Hybrid level of support, and this is open to all Home Birth #Midwives and all patients (low risk and “high risk”) alike.

#DrBootstaylor met with many of Atlanta’s Home Birth Midwives last week to discuss this new approach. It was overall a great meeting that will help us make what we see as a wonderful and unique approach to co-management of prenatal care, even better!

Dr Bootstaylor explains, “All the CPMs in attendance were in total agreement and excited about Hybrid care and See Baby Midwifery support of Home Birth. The ability to serve more Moms who are not traditionally Home Birth candidates has a profound ring of practicality and optimism associated with it. The meeting was exciting, engaging and exploratory, yielding great ideas to actualize this wonderful hybrid service.  It lasted over 3 hours on the eve before July 4th; that speaks volumes.”

FYI: See Baby will provide a #Doula stipend while we await the arrival of our #Midwives!
Our thinking…
We understand and believe in the power of support during labor.  We always recommend that a family find and hire a Doula who they feel will compliment their #birth team.
As #SeeBaby #Midwifery gets started, one thing that has to happen is for our #Midwives to be credentialed at each hospital in order to obtain privileges at said hospital.  #DrBootstaylor of course already has privileges, and will therefore be attending births during this time.
#DrBootstaylor: “As #SeeBaby awaits the ability of their #Midwives to attend births, it is our belief that laboring mothers should have as much support as possible. I feel a great deal of benefit can be provided with #Doula support. Therefore See Baby is providing a stipend of $250 for Doula support for births attended by me at #Emory Midtown Hospital during this transition.”
We love our #Doulas and appreciate the immense benefit they bring to the journey of birth and beyond. That’s why we will help cover the cost of this incredible service. We would love to hear your thoughts on#OurThinking… post your comments and help BRING BIRTH BACK!

Q: Will See Baby Midwifery offer well woman care?

Our thinking…

YES! We intend for this aspect of See Baby Midwifery’s service offerings to be extensive, but the specifics of what this will look like will be largely shaped by our midwives. Their input is critical and important to us.  We  look forward to caring for women in every stage of life.

Check out the Top Doctors list in the July issue of Atlanta Magazine—Dr. Bootstaylor has been publicly acknowledged for the 4th year in a row (since opening See Baby) as one of the Best Maternal Fetal Medicine & Perinatal Practices in Georgia!

Dr. Bootstaylor on the honor: “Although a singular name is cited, we know it’s a TEAM effort. I’m greatly appreciative of my staff and our ability to provide excellent care to Moms and families. Especially as we develop See Baby Midwifery.”

After many years of collaboration in support of the “midwifery model of care” with Intown Midwifery, Brad Bootstaylor, MD, & See Baby are seeking ways to expand this service and are excited to announce the creation of See Baby Midwifery, which will have their own Midwives dedicated to providing excellent maternity care and support.

See Baby & See Baby Midwifery will promote the philosophy of "shared decision making" and support various birth options that mothers deserve. We will support safe vaginal breech & twin birth, safe instrumental delivery, VBAC, low intervention and “tincture of time” labor management, thereby expanding on the normal concepts of birth.

We will also continue our ongoing support of Home Birth as a safe & phenomenal option. Our Home Birth support will remain consistent and committed as ever, providing a “respectful transfer” to the hospital when appropriate. We will be offering a new hybrid service; Home Birth Prenatal Care, See Baby Birth! Essentially some mothers enjoy and feel more comfortable with the high level of care provided by CPMs, CNMs and Home Birth Midwives, however their births may be served in a hospital setting, yet maintaining the dignity, respect and wonderment that occurs with Home Birth.

With regards to our support of home births: nothing changes, but more care options are opened up for all!

We will continue to encourage labor support with Doulas and Ancillary Personnel to enhance the pregnancy and birth experience.

It’s wonderful to have another resource for evidence based, empowering and respectful midwifery care and birth options.

See Baby Midwifery will practice at both Atlanta Medical Center & Emory Midtown Hospital. The new office space will be in the Emory Medical Office Tower (MOT), midtown.

More details will be forthcoming to address your inquiries. We look forward to working with you and for you. See Baby Midwifery will be respectful, harmonious, committed to flexibility, remain innovative, staying aligned and focused on the central importance of the mother.

Bring Birth Back with See Baby Midwifery, opening 07/14/14
